Technology has never been more important than it is today as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our daily lives and plans. Virtual meetings, study sessions, office hours, and education have become commonplace activities, and Zoom is now one of many familiar programs as we adapt into uncharted times in the world.

Health literacy is a passion and primary research focus for Teresa Wagner ’86 (DrPH, MS, CPH, RD/LD, CHWI, CHWC, DipACLM). Her efforts have resulted in regional and national recognition in the field and led to her receipt of the 2020 TCU Distinguished Alumni Award.

Julie Krzykwa ‘17 (MS) is the first student to earn a Ph.D. in biology from TCU after successfully defending her dissertation in April.

During the changing times of COVID-19, the College of Science & Engineering has found ways to contribute to the local community and to help ensure healthcare workers’ safety.

What originated as a group of five aspiring scientists referred to as, “TCU Chemistry Club,” is now a community outreach group, bringing science and a momentum of higher education to the Fort Worth-Dallas area for more than a decade.

The College of Science & Engineering donated spare supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as nitrile (exam) gloves, to local agencies – Moncrief Cancer Institute, Tarrant County Homeless Coalition, Careflite and Fort Worth Emergency Preparedness.
