Tim Schwartz is a chemistry major from Trabuco Canyon, California. Schwartz was the first author on the paper “Electronic influence of substitution on the pyridine ring within NNN pincer-type molecules,” published in the academic journal Dalton Transactions on January 28, 2020.

In the fall of 2019, Steve Weis, professor and chair of the engineering department, recognized the need for a new chemistry course and started developing it.

Ray Seguin is a current student in the Coordinated Program in Dietetics at TCU. She is originally from El Paso, Texas, and graduated from UT Arlington with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science.

Emma Schmidt, junior actuarial sciences major from Waukee, Iowa, found her calling at an early age. Really, she found her callings early: mathematics and basketball. In addition to achieving a nearly perfect GPA at TCU, Schmidt spends her time as one of the managers of the TCU men’s basketball team.

Many scientists may hope to have the rare opportunity to work alongside a Nobel Laureate. Alan Enciso ’16 is living the dreams of many in a postdoctoral research position at Northwestern University under Sir Fraser Stoddart, a 2016 Nobel Laureate in chemistry.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) chapter at TCU gives students interested in electrical engineering the opportunity to engage with each other outside of the classroom. Last year, IEEE President Mike Tran started a community outreach program teaching electrical engineering to Paschal High School students.

Jim Huffman, associate professor of professional practice in engineering at TCU, and founder of Beyond the Light Project, originally started out as a French major. When he began his undergraduate studies, he wasn’t quite sure which direction he wanted to go. But through some trial and error, Huffman shifted his studies to electrical engineering and found that he not only had the skills, but more importantly he had a passion for it.
