The College of Science & Engineering welcomes a new member to its External Advisory Board this fall. Charis Ann Bennett has spent the last 30 years in leadership roles in various organizations, focusing on supporting science, art and literacy in public schools, national and international care and relief efforts, children’s advocacy, symphony guild and women’s groups. Bennett’s professional career focused on scientific research at UT Southwestern, UC Irvine, Baylor University and UC San Francisco medical schools. She attended Texas Tech University and received a B.S. in Biological Sciences from UC Irvine.

Bennett says, “I have had the opportunity to interact with the TCU College of Science & Engineering students and faculty over the last decade. I am impressed by the education, training and opportunities offered to the students to prepare them for their careers. I feel honored to make whatever contribution I can to this worthy endeavor.”

Currently enjoying her retirement, Bennett spends much of her time with her grandchildren, gardening, volunteering at church and in the community, and reading.
