Dean Michael Kruger announces that Dr. Zoranna Jones has joined the College of Science & Engineering as assistant dean as of August 1, 2022. Jones will oversee student support in the College of Science & Engineering by leading success initiatives such as the testing center and peer-mentoring program.

Jones will continue to develop curriculum for and lead the Introduction to University Life course, a student success seminar for incoming TCU students that helps them cultivate habits of learning and academic achievement. Designed to impart knowledge, skills and strategies to flourish and positively transition into academic life at TCU, the course provides students with mentoring by an instructor and student peer guide.

Jones also will continue as director of the award-winning STEM Scholar program, which she founded to support underrepresented and first-generation DFW-area students who excel in STEM. As director for the STEM Scholar program, she will continue to report directly to Provost Dahlberg.

“I’ve had the opportunity to get to know Zoranna through her work with the STEM Scholar program and have witnessed what an outstanding job she’s done. Her experience in higher education recruiting, mentoring, student development, program implementation and diversity and inclusion initiatives make her an excellent addition to the College of Science & Engineering. I welcome her as part of our team and look forward to the great work she’ll be doing to support our students,” Dean Kruger said.

A registered nurse, Jones joined TCU in 2002 as coordinator of recruitment, retention and alumni relations, then assistant director of nursing recruitment and retention, and then became the founder and director of the Academic Resource Center for the Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She also founded the STEM Scholar Program in 2018 and most recently served as assistant dean for the former TCU School of Interdisciplinary Studies. Jones holds a Ph.D. in public and urban administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, a master’s degree in communication in human relations from TCU and bachelor’s degree in nursing from TCU.
