Meet Jordan Ross who plans to become a leader in the electrical engineering field.

As we kick off the 10th annual TCU Gives Day, we received a generous challenge gift from Dr. C.A. Quarles ’60, and his wife Sonja. They have pledged an additional $30,000 commitment to the College of Science & Engineering and challenges 150 donors to join them by making a gift of any amount to any designation in the College.

Today, TCU’s STEM Scholar Program, based in the College of Science & Engineering, received the 2023 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. It’s the third time the STEM Scholar Program has been given this award.

Three extraordinary health care professionals that were the product of TCU’s College of Science & Engineering Pre-Health Professions Institute were featured on the latest in a series of hand-painted murals celebrating TCU's 150th Anniversary. TCU’s Game Changer Award has been given to Zoranna Jones, assistant dean for Student Support in the College of Science & Engineering. Jones says, “Being honored with the Game Changer Award is amazing! I don’t do this work for recognition. My goal is always to aid students in their journey for success, whatever that looks like for them.”

Watt Matthews will join the College of Science & Engineering External Advisory Board this fall. Mr. Matthews is currently a vice president of investments at the Legett Foundation and the Kickapoo Springs Foundation. Mr. Matthews comes from a long history of ranching. Currently Mr. Matthews, his wife Elizabeth, and their three children live in San Antonio.

Dr. Matthew Garcia will join the College of Science & Engineering family at the start of the fall semester as director of Ranch Management. He comes to TCU from Utah State University, where he served as associate department head and associate professor.

Ze-Li Dou, associate professor in TCU’s mathematics department, Curby Alexander, associate professor of professional practice, and Liran Ma, professor of computer science, have been awarded a $220,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) in recognition of their research and commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and education in the areas of deep learning security.
