SERC - Undergraduate Grants
SERC provides modest support for a substantial number of research projects involving a Davis College undergraduate student and his/her faculty mentor. The grant ranges from $500 to $1,500 depending on the needs of the project.
Fall 2024
- The deadline for the Fall 2024 round of applications is October 23.
- The grant period for Fall 2024 applicants will begin on December 1, 2024, and expires April 30, 2025.
Examples of items that the grant cannot support: travel to present research; stipends; computers (unless the computer resource is unique and not available at TCU. (See Grant Application Form for more detail).
Program Guidelines
The Science & Engineering Research Center (SERC) will award research grants for the 2024 – 2025 academic year to Davis College undergraduate students engaged in research with faculty in the Davis College.
Student Eligibility Requirements
- Student must have junior or senior standing with an anticipated graduation in May 2025, or later. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0in Mathematics and Science courses at TCU.
- If the student applicant had a previous project funded by a SERC grant, they must have presented the results of that project at a College of Science & Engineering Student Research Symposium (SRS).
Grant Awards
- The grant period for Fall 2024 applicants will begin on December 1, 2024, and expires April 30, 2025.
- Grant recipients are required to present a poster during a College of Science and Engineering Student Research Symposium (SRS), during or in the year immediately following the grant period.

Students and faculty mentors will be required to create a Google Gmail account before accessing the application form found at the links below. There are two parts to the applications. Part A is filled out by the student and Part B by the faculty mentor.
