As a Nutritional Sciences student, you will specialize in dietetics, nutrition, or food management. You will explore nutrient needs across the lifespan; menu planning for individuals, families and groups; the chemistry of food preparation; healthy foods for total fitness; and nutritional care in disease prevention and treatment. As a “nutritional expert,” you will be trained to assist clients and patients in deciphering the myriad of nutrition information that bombards consumers.

Learn the science of food and nutrition in courses emphasizing the foundations of dietetic knowledge and skills in communications, physical and biological sciences, social sciences, research, food, nutrition, management, and health care systems.

Four tracks are offered under the Nutritional Sciences major:

Combined BS/MS in Dietetics

Didactic Program in Dietetics

Nutrition

Food Management


 

Minor in Nutrition

The minor in nutrition at TCU requires successful completion of 19 hours with a grade of “C” or better in each of the following courses. Classes for the minor in nutrition may not be taken on a Pass/No Credit basis. 
 
Students will not be allowed to enroll in an NTDT course for the minor if they have not completed the prerequisite courses for that specific course. Therefore, faculty recommend students review the prerequisite courses for each of the nutrition minor courses when deciding to declare the minor.
