Degree Requirements
Master of Arts
The MA degree program allows students to dive deeper into the field of biology with exposure to the latest discoveries and advances through coursework in their chosen field of study.
Master of Science
The MS degree program provides students with a solid foundation in biological knowledge together with the skills necessary to excel in a wide range of careers. MS students engage in scholarship and research with faculty mentors, present their research at scientific meetings, and often publish their research in the peer-reviewed literature.
Ph.D
The Ph.D. program builds upon the existing curriculum for the MS degree by allowing high-quality students to remain in the program for several more years. PhD. students conduct original and innovative research, write grants, and communicate their research findings by presenting scientific papers at meetings and publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts. Additionally, these students hone their communication and teaching skills with individual mentoring from graduate faculty.
